Aliases

What is an Alias?

Example: /cool-new-product

An alias, sometimes called a "custom slug" or "custom url", is the tail end of a shortened link that you can personalize. It's a unique identifier on your short link that is easy to remember and great for branding.

How to Create a Custom Slug

  1. After inputting your long link, select the alias input.
  2. Type in your desired slug – it can be related to your brand or the content you’re sharing.
  3. Hit ‘Shorten’ and your link is ready to use and share.

Note: Custom slugs are subject to availability and can only be used once.

Best Practices

Choosing Effective Custom Slugs

  • Keep it Short and Sweet: The best slugs are brief and to the point.
  • Use Relevant Keywords: Include keywords that reflect the content or branding.
  • Avoid Special Characters: Stick to letters and numbers to ensure compatibility across platforms.

When to Use Your Shortened links

  • Social Media: Perfect for Tweets, Instagram bios, or Facebook posts.
  • Marketing Materials: Use on flyers, posters, and business cards for a clean look.
  • Analytical Tracking: Simplify link tracking in marketing campaigns.

  • Link Not Working: Ensure the original link is correct and the short link was copied completely.
  • Page Not Found: The destination link might have been removed or the short link may have been mistyped.
